My main education has been a study of biology at the State University of Utrecht, which resulted in a graduation with honors in animal ecology and behaviour. But I was drawn more to the arts, and a specialization as a (biological) illustrator and painter became my future.
After 35 years of experience my work now comprises numerous book illustrations, three published children’s books (A Tale of Antarctica, Leaper, and Lonely Tree), information panels, limited edition prints, and huge museum wall illustrations. And paintings, which were exhibited and purchased world-wide, some by an American museum.
Starting out as a traditional painter in watercolors and oils, I have now developed a personal workflow in digital visualizations, based on 3D architecture.
Mijn belangrijkste opleiding was aan de Rijks Universiteit van Utrecht, waar ik een studie biologie (diergedrag en ecologie) cum laude afrondde. Omdat ik meer aangetrokken werd door de artistieke wereld, heb ik mij gespecialiseerd als (biologisch) illustrator en vrij kunstenaar.
Na 35 jaar ervaring is mijn portfolio inmiddels uitgegroeid tot een aanzienlijke hoeveelheid boekillustraties, drie eigen kinderboeken (A Tale of Antarctica, Leaper en Lonely Tree), limited edition prints, informatiepanelen en uitzonderlijk grote museumwandillustraties. En schilderijen, die wereldwijd geëxposeerd en aangekocht zijn, o.a door een Amerikaans museum.
Ik begon als traditioneel schilder in aquarel en olieverf, maar heb me nu gespecialiseerd in digitale beeldtechnieken.
